FMCSA would allow Canadian insurance for Canadian fleets in US

Canada-domiciled trucking companies would be allowed to operate in the United States with insurance provided through Canadian insurance companies if a Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) is adopted. Currently, Canada-domiciled motor carriers operating in the United States must maintain insurance policies issued by US insurance companies as evidence of financial responsibility. The proposed change would not affect the minimum levels of financial responsibility that carriers must now maintain under US regulations.
